Artisanal Petroleum Refining and Occupational Dynamics in the Niger Delta Region, Nigeria

This study examines the occupational dynamics of population as a result artisanal refining crude oil in Niger Delta using structured questionnaire administered to 240 household heads selected from two settlements, one far area refineries (controlled settlement) and other (experimental settlement). The covered location demographic characteristics respondents, well typology occupations. pair-wise Student t-test simple percentages were used analyse data collected. revealed that there significant (t = -0.22, df =12, p<0.05) number respondents identified typologies indirect impact experimental controlled settlements. recommends intensification efforts implement existing laws on environmental protection provision employment for teeming population.
